You're interested in cycling in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area, but would like to see safer and more convenient infrastructure and routes? Then we'd love to see you at our meetings!
Our Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows HUB committee has been working with local government to improve cycling in our area since 2009. We're thrilled to see that our efforts are now leading to some significant results. Our very first separated cycle track was added on 203rd Street north of Dewdney Trunk Road. We're seeing more separated multi-use facilities elsewhere in the community as well.
We're very excited that Maple Ridge has committed to funding cycling education at all Maple Ridge elementary schools over the next two years. It's so important to instill the love and habit of cycling early on in life!
Over the years, we've been helping people (re-)discover the joys of cycling by organizing themed rides, such as our popular Bike to Farms event and the Art Studio Bike Tour, and we're working to offer more frequent rides this year. We're also involved in Repair Cafés in Maple Ridge (http://rmrecycling.org/community/celebrate-earth-day-maple-ridge/repair-cafes-maple-ridge).
Whether you're just curious as to what we're up to, or would like to help to improve cycling in our area, we hope to see you at our meetings!
