Book reading and discussion group

Hello everybody:   Part of the mandate at GETI  is to have the ideas about post carbon transition society, community resiliency, sustainability and environment  clear enough to discuss them with the public. These are difficult concepts that require a good discussion after reading books in the subject. We will share books, read them and then share our ideas in a lively meeting. We will clarify the important ideas and find consensus as a group about their meaning.  As Victor Hugo said "Nothing is more powerful that an idea whose time has come". Words are powerful, when well expressed and well thought. Society has always  being modified by ideas that shifted the way people thought. People's behaviour is always driven by the ideas they have in their mind.

Is this group also about borrowing and lending books? If so I have some books just sitting on shelves at home that I'd be happy to lend.

Also there's a free edition of The Transition Handbook available at various sites online - just Google "transition handbook pdf". One example is http://www.transitie.be/userfiles/transition-handbook(1).pdf.

Michael :

Thanks !!. Yes, it as about lending and borrowing books with a good discussion/meeting after the group have read  the book. Also, members that have read an interesting  book can "present" the book to the group so the members that have not read it can get into the book or know what is the book main thesis.
