I imagine most people are aware of the correct order of measures to make the best impact on reducing energy in the home. Upgrading windows, light fixtures, insulating, air tightness, heating efficiency and of course conservation measures. After that, a owner can choose to further reduce their non-renewable energy consumption by incorporating renewable technologies such as air or ground source heat pumps, solar air heaters, solar domestic hot water or solar photovoltaic (producing electricity). And if you have a pool, you could consider heating it with solar pool heating panels which would reduce your carbon footprint enormously.

Sometimes the simplest things to do can have the greatest impact. For those who do not have the resources to make the great changes that Paul talks about, there are still many things you can do. There is energy consumed in almost everything we do, food production, transportation, control of our personal space, production of the goods we consume, the way we entertain ourselves, and many other things.

The real question is, how much energy do we waste. If you realize that everything we do has an energy footprint, then changing our consumer habits can have a profound impact. What we buy, where it comes from, how much we consume, how we entertain ourselves, and much more. By keeping these concepts in mind as we go about our daily lives, we can reduce our energy consumption and possibly save money.

I liked the last guys comments.... we don't all the funds.... but there are a lot of little ways we can help and then as this transitioning takes up steam, we will get members who are willing to teach or barter for services rendered.... we all have skills of some sort that are beneficial. Keep me posted

GETI is looking for people to join a steering committee that will set up a local solar panel buyer's club. The GETI Solar Panel Buyer's Club will work with suppliers and installers to get wholesale pricing and gather members who will share in the club's benefits.
