Skill Sharing

Some people know how to operate a chainsaw. Others know how to make jam. Sometimes the jam-makers want to be the chainsaw operators and vice-versa.

Want to learn something? Add it as a comment to the list. Can you teach something? Ditto.

Think small: Kitchen table instead of conference room, back-yard instead of ... stadium? Forestry cut-block? I dunno, the analogy is falling apart...

If you have an idea but don't have a place, let us know - we'll find a venue for you.

This is a great group! I don't know what I can contribute, but I will think about it :)

Thanks, Kiirsti. Your can contribute simply by joining us and coming along. We are having a Skill Sharing: Social Networking session on Wednesday evening. There's still a space left if you can make it!

We had our first session tonight and it was fun! (You can download the slides here: http://www.jenzed.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Skill_Sharing_Soci...

We decided that our next session is going to be on making yoghurt, yoghurt-based cream cheese (labneh) and Indian paneer (and maybe kefir if anybody knows how to do that.)

I propose July 4 for our cheesy session. I'm happy to do it at my house again (unless someone has a better suggestion).

Next Skill Sharing event is "Making Yoghurt and Cheese" on July 4.

Hello all!

I will be moving from North Vancouver to Maple Ridge this month and am so excited to have found GETI and the exciting groups to explore, learn and meet a whole lot of like minded people!

Welcome Juliana! I look forward to meeting you. If you haven't already, I suggest you look into the CEED Centre - they have a lot of great projects going on and are a centre of community-based activity in Maple Ridge.

One aspect of the Transition Initiative / Transition Towns that I really like is the way they build friendship and community. I'm happy to welcome you to ours. :)

Thank you for the warm welcome Jennifer! I have joined CEED Centre as well and once settled in after the move I will make my round with all the activities and hopefully meet some of you some day soon!
