HUB Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows is getting ready for the fourth year of our Cycle Recycle. We collect donated bikes as well as bikes from the Recycle Depot. We'll clean them up and do some minor repairs before giving them away through a draw at the Earth Day event on April 18.

A development proposal for an 18-storey tower is on the agenda for the upcoming Public Hearing on December 9, 6 pm.
This is for one of 4 towers in the pipeline for the Brown/Edge/Dewdney area, and in another 5 years or so from now a developer is expected to move ahead with 5 more towers between Brown and Dewdney, west of 224th.

I was very brave yesterday and spoke at a public meeting (reading from a piece of paper, that is...) about a development application of 91 one-acre lots 5 kms outside the urban boundary in Maple Ridge, serviced by city water. We can't afford to subsidize these kinds of developments, and it's also not exactly an exemplary model for a sustainable community. Read my blog post here.
