My name is Keith. I live in Vancouver but I joined GETI just over a year ago because my family owns property in Maple Ridge so I was interested in learning about sustainability initiatives taking place in the area and making some connections.

Our acreage in east Maple Ridge is currently vacant and under-utilized. I would like for the land to become productive, ideally with permaculture principles in mind, with the goal of contributing to local food security.  As I am currently settled in Vancouver, and not a farmer, this is something I could only have limited involvement in.  I keep hearing from various sources that there is a disconnect between people wanting a place to farm and the availability of land.  My intention in posting this is to potentially make such a connection.  Much of the property is currently overgrown but it does have a lot of potential so I am open to proposals.  Right now there is possibly a 1/4 acre that could be planted and the idea would be to clear space add more arable plots over time. A possible long term vision is for 1 or more growers using the land with the possibility of market garden plots and food forest.
